Once upon a time, I worked in Yellowstone—at the Old Faithful Inn Gift Shop, where I spent part of each day restoring the great wall of postcards. These days, the postcard wall is smaller, which makes me sad. Postcards are more than souvenirs. They’re a way of looking at the small stuff, of noticing and sharing why a place matters. With that,

Postcard from Yellowstone | Clear Lake

Hi there! The South Rim Trail paralleled the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone for a decent stretch before taking us into thick forest. After seeing nothing but trees for a good long time, we emerged into a clearing near the shore of this clear gem of a lake. What a delight it was to watch a thermal feature bubbling away beneath the surface at the far end while we relaxed on the warm sand and refreshed our weary feet in the cool water. Sometimes it’s the simple pleasures that make for the best days. True on the trail. True in life. take heart & happy trails ~ Natalie 🥾
